What material is used for 3D printing? Is it possible to use any shiny material? Thanks.

I would like to take an estimate of a photo I would like to print as 3D. Reply on angelo_said@yaoo.co.uk please, so I can forward the photo. It is a photo of a Christmas crib, what material do you suggest I print it in? I would like to print it a bit large, so a cheap but good material would do. Thanks, Angelo.
