Best Hairdressers in Malta

Top hairdressing salons in Malta.Hairdressing is a popular pastime in Malta and the number of salons and hairdressers is consistently on the rise. New styles and appearances, mostly for women have flooded the market of late and with courses being offered at major colleges, the art of hairdressing has become a considerable skill. Some of the best hairdressers on the island have even made it to the fashion capitals of the world abroad and a burgeoning film industry locally also ensures that these skills are used almost on a daily basis.

Some names have stuck in the minds of many but two stand out: Cut Coiffeur and Toni & Guy. These two hairdressing salons are probably the nest known on the island and cater for a diverse and varied clientele. Cut Coiffeur is manned by Alex (his surname is immaterial) and he takes care of several TV stars such as Clare Agius and other well-known local celebrities. Located in Gzira (a very central area), Alex is much in demand where the film industry is concerned since he is considered to be a top hairdressing guru in several departments. His combination of unique styling and upbeat trends has taken the local fashion world by storm.

Toni & Guy, also in Gzira is another salon where class meets style in more ways than one. A speciality of styles makes this salon one of the very best in Malta and again this is a haunt for local celebrities as well as the wives of politicians who frequent the salon to show off their new and exotic hairstyles. Toni & Guy have also worked extensively on film sets and have worked abroad in some of the top fashion centres such as London and Berlin.

Another rather under the radar hair salon but who is fast making a name for himself is Thomas Hair Salon in Robert Caruana Dingli Street, San Gwann. Here the quality is undoubtedly of the highest order and the younger generation flocks to this tidy little place tucked at the periphery of this sprawling town. Thomas Fenech’s prices are also pretty reasonable and although he may not be as traditional in some areas, a haircut at his salon will certainly show that you are a cut above the rest.

There are several other salons one might mention such as Mando Hair and Blow n’ Dry but if you stick to one of the three above, you will certainly not compromise on quality.

Hi everyone – my question is can anyone of the hairdressers deal with African hair – as in perming and straight blow out? Thanks.

Hi Kylie, I opened a new salon in Qormi and the name of my baby is “Origami the Hair Lounge“. You can find it on FB. I have a very good product for African hair that can bring back the life in your curls and keep the frizz away from you. You can pass by and give it a try. Also for the rest of the curly hair around, not only African.

Another great “under the radar” salon is Denise Hair Salon, which is located in the “lower” parts of St Julian’s. I’ve been there a few times and it’s a great hair salon that takes good care of the clients and they charge very reasonable prices compared to the service you get.
