There is definitely much more to a successful and competent radio station than such plain equipment as a receiver, a transmitter, or an antenna. While playing an important role in social and local communication of live news and the transfer of information, radio stations also provide entertainment, an informal commentary on popular events and lifestyles, as well as broadcasting and propagating advertisements of businesses, and services. All of this serves the general audience as a link to society as a whole, and as a way of enforcing communal life.
Generally, different radio stations emphasize different themes. Some radio stations for example, focus on the importance of local news, and broadcast those facts which they believe citizens need and ought to know about the world they live in. Other radio stations may focus more on public opinion, while others still provide programmes for entertainment, religious channels, or talk shows. Presenters, commentators, DJs, actors, important or well-known personalities – anyone may make an appearance on a particular radio channel for different reasons.
