Armin van Buuren in Malta

It is funny how small this island is and still how many celebrities coming here to entertain us. After the overwhelming success of Steve Angello, Kaskade, Avicii, Paul Kalkbrenner and Calvin Harris, who made our summer nights even hotter, yesterday Armin was the one who made us dance all night.

The date 12.12.12 was special day in history anyways. Armin van Buuren made it even unique.

Armin is a Dutch trance DJ, who is the number one ranked DJ having won DJ Magazine’s Top 100 DJs fan poll a record of 5 times (4 years between 2007-2010 and again in 2012).

Armin was born in 1976. I’m just mentioning this fact, if some of you don’t know he is celebrating his 36th birthday soon, 25th December. He started his career in 1995 with a track Blue Fear. This track got him into the UK Charts. His DJ career began, when he started to play in a club in a city where he was born (Nexus, Leiden). In 2001 he started to host a weekly radio show we all heard about: A State of Trance, which is today a weekly feature of a complete list of radio stations. Since 2005 he managed to publish 3 world famous studio albums: Shivers, Imagine and Mirage. With A State of Trance 500 he celebrated his 10 year anniversary and the 500th episode of his radio show. This year he performed in six shows across three continents as part of A State of Trance 550. And few weeks after being awarded for the 5th time (the prestigious award as the World No 1 DJ at the DJ MAG Top 100 DJs Poll), he landed yesterday in Malta and played his 4hours (00:00-4:00am) live set at MFCC Arena. He made my heart to beat when he played a mix one of my recent favorite tracks: The Funeral.

By now Malta is probably quite familiar to him as it wasn’t his first and not even the second time here. If my research is reliable, Armin visited the island in years 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012. I think he must like it/us.

Trance definitely is a special style of music. Armin is a real trance lover and passionate about music. He says „This is what I really want”. Could he ask for more? The best job you can have is the thing what you actually like. This feeling and obviously the talent was given him. I think Armin is a lucky guy. He is an idol, he is God for some kids for sure and he is definitely a huge symbol in the history of music. Whatever he is doing, he is doing it well.

“It’s not just love for music, it’s my passion. It goes beyond liking, and beyond a hobby, it’s about a way of living. Music is essential to my life.”
