Malta Marathon

This Sunday, 24th February, was a significant day for all the sportsmen, runners, joggers and their supporters. Today was held the most popular athletic event of the year, The 2013 Land Rover Malta Marathon and Half Marathon.

This year the participants reached a peak, with 460 Full Marathon and 2800 Half Marathon applications.

The event was sponsored by Gillette as well, so their photographers were stationed at different checking point along the path taking and uploading pictures about the participants. So all the runners who registered for the application, could share some “live” pictures with their friends and family online. I think this was a brilliant idea!

Land Rover Malta Marathon started this morning at 8:00am from Mdina and through a winding path it ended in Sliema. Here are the route details:

  • Start – 6km. Mdina – Rabat – Nigret – Mtarfa – Ta’ Qali.
  • 6km – 12km. Ta’ Qali loop going by the National Stadium, Pitkali vegetable market and the new American embassy – Attard
  • 12km – 27km, Attard – Mosta – Attard – Ta’ Qali going by the Pitkali vegetable market, National Stadium, Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre to Mdina Glass.

The Land Rover Half Marathon was starting a bit later at 9:30am from Mdina all the way to Sliema. Some info about the route details:
